ABOUT MAGGI
Discovering her Passion:
When Maggi was in her early twenties, someone admired how she sang and asked her to teach them. So along with continuing her own studies, auditioning and performing, she began teaching. In her mid thirties, after being chosen as a finalist in the International Lucianno Pavarotti Competition, with her performance career possibilities starting to accelerate, she faced the realization that teaching was her true passion. She halted what was, truthfully, a half hearted pursuit of an international opera career to focus the largest part of her energies on her teaching while continuing as a professional singer doing recitals and choral work in NYC with the New York Chorals Artists..
Along with private voice teaching and coaching, Maggi enjoyed teaching group classes in several Continuing Education programs and still gives masterclasses in vocal technique for churches and high school choirs. In the late 80’s she started a production company “Gemini Productions” and produced and directed several full length shows and revues.

As an interesting offshoot of teaching voice, she developed a series of workshops called “Speak up-for Women only” which led to a ten year foray into the corporate world as a communications consultant, public speaking trainer and earning an MA in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University.
Through her thirty-plus years as a self-employed teacher/performer/corporate consultant/choir director/waitress, sales person and administrative assistant (those last three jobs were a very long time ago), teaching singing is where she believes her talents and personality merge most powerfully and where she has the most to offer. It is her passion.
